Board Member Requirements and Expectations
Candidates should have experience in at least one of these areas: Human resources, finance, education, legal, community relations, fund raising, business, and/or have previous non-profit board experience.
All board members are expected to:
- Be willing to make a commitment and actively lead/participate in board activities and Humane Society events and projects.
- Be willing to raise funds or participate in fundraising.
- Review and abide by by-laws.
- Accept legal and Policy-setting responsibility for the agency.
- Represent HSoMC to the staff, members, volunteers & the community.
Time commitment:
Estimate of an average of 10-15 hours monthly (not including projects or events)
- Board Meetings: 4-6 hours
- Committee Meetings: 2-4 hours
- Occasional special events: 2-4 hours/year
- General correspondence: 2-4 hours
- Projects: Varies
Individuals can submit self-nominations to the Nominating Committee for consideration. The nominations for open board positions should be submitted before 5:00 PM on Thursday, February 9, 2023 and should include a resume or bio. Please outline why you are seeking a board position, your applicable experience and how you will contribute the the board. Non-members are eligible to be nominated.
