Election Candidates 2026

Tammy Sherman
Tammy is an HR manager at Dow Chemical in Midland, Michigan and chairs the HSoMC Human Resources committee. She has adopted and sponsored many pets, as well as rescued, fostered, and helped to get other pets adopted as well as volunteered at the HSoMC. Joined the board in 2022.

Jerry Burns
Jerry is a Global Business IT Director with 25+ years of service at Dow. A 20+ year proud resident of Midland where he raised his children (Liam & Zoe), he recently relocated downstate with his wife (Keri) but continues to work in the city. Jerry is the dogfather of a precocious, one-eyed boxer (Lucile “Lucy” Penelope) and rescued a rambunctious Detroit pitty (Revley) from HSoMC in the spring of 2024. An avid sports fan, Jerry has coached a broad range of area youth athletics while also donating his time in support of a variety of other local philanthropic organizations. Joined the board in 2023.

Amy Gilstad
Amy is a life-long animal lover and rescuer. She and her husband, Chad, currently have 2 rescue pups, Kona and Kai, and geriatric rescue kitty, Fluffy Jones. Amy works at Trinseo as a procurement manager. She is also the Community Outreach co-chair for Trinseo and has had the honor of helping foster a strong relationship with HSOMC.

Chuck Neal
Chuck is a recently retired IT professional with 30 years of service at Dow. He and his wife, Rebecca, live in Homer Township, where they raised their two children, Jessica and Phoenix. A passionate animal advocate, Chuck and his family are the proud companions of three dogs —Pepper (2011), Loki (2021), and Mila (2025) — all adopted from the Humane Society of Midland County. Their household also includes two rescued cats, Charlie and Silver Rose, who joined the family from other areas. With his early retirement, Chuck is excited for the opportunity to devote more time to volunteer efforts, community involvement, and personal hobbies.
