Our Mission: Improving the lives of people & pets in our communities.

Who We Are

The Humane Society of Midland County is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to finding permanent, loving homes for unwanted and abandoned animals. Our small staff and dedicated volunteers operate and manage the only animal shelter in Midland County. In 2011, HSoMC took over management from Midland County Animal Control and became a no-kill shelter.

As a nonprofit that receives no government funding, we rely entirely on the generosity of our community to provide daily care, medical treatment, enrichment, and second chances to the many animals who come through our doors. When you support our mission, you become part of every life saved.

Our Vision: Champion health & wellness for people & pets.

2026 HSoMC MASCOTS

Cammi

Presenting the HSoMC 2025 dog mascot, Cammi!

Name, age, and breed: Cammi (because she looks like she’s wearing camouflage), 1 year 8 months, Aussie Doodle (adopted from HSoMC)

Personality and favorite activities: She is full of energy and has amazing zoomies but loves to snuggle and get tummy tickles. Her favorite activity is playing fetch – constantly!

A fun or unique fact about her: She does anything her big brother does (Remi, our 5.5 year old Chocolate Lab). She watches him and does exactly what he does – diving off the dock into the lake, swimming under water to fetch rocks, making snow angels, running on the trails. When they lay down she always needs to be touching him….or sitting on him! She also tries to herd him when out on walks – she was born with that instinct!

What makes her special to you: She is a beautiful girl with such unique coloring, long eyelashes and a sweet personality. She has definitely rounded out our family and brought new energy to our lives, including Remi’s!

Cleo

Presenting the HSoMC 2025 cat mascot, Cleo!

Name, age, and breed: Cleo, short for Cleo-Catra, because she is the queen of all she surveys, and she could be a runway model with her walk, it’s all attitude! Cleo is a 5 year old domestic long haired girl with a huge personality who loves to play, sleep, and mess with the 3 other felines in the house.

Personality and favorite activities: She is the queen of all she surveys, full of attitude, and could be a runway model with her walk. She loves to play, sleep, and stir up mischief with the other cats in the house.

A fun or unique fact about her: She was a stray at HSoMC as an 8 week old kitten with horrible upper respiratory issues, and after many nights as a foster kitten, found her forever home with us and is very loved.

What makes her special to you: There are certain rules in Cleo’s world which have to be followed by her humans — sleeping in a certain spot on the bed, her favorite wet cat food, and her 3 labs to walk/curl up with are a few.
